Studying how light moves
through topological lattices.

I'm Alaa Bayazeed, a Syrian physicist doing my PhD at RPTU Kaiserslautern. This site collects my research, occasional writing on Syria and civil society in Europe, and ways to reach me.

Research
Nonlinear photonics, topology & synthetic dimensions

I work with coupled optical waveguide arrays as a platform for exploring topological effects — Thouless pumping, Weyl physics, and what nonlinearity does to them.

Current focus: nonlinear Thouless pumping
Notes, simulations & visual explanations
Beyond the lab
Syria, democracy & civil society in Europe

I take part in Syrian civic initiatives and write occasionally about democracy, migration, and public debate in Germany and Europe.

Occasional essays & commentary
